What a change! This morning when I woke up, I noticed a light layer of snow had fallen during the night. I noticed the temperature was a slight bit warmer than yesterday, but not by much. This afternoon when I left my field experience assignment, it was raining outside. I thought this was very weird because I didn't remember seeing any rain shower forecasts. In any event, it was warming up. After my afternoon class, I walked outside and my jaw dropped. Complete snow coverage. I wasn't even aware that it had been snowing. I began brushing off my car, and noticed that it was nice sticky snow; perfect for making snowballs. Too bad I had no one to throw them at. Driving home from running some errands, I noticed two girls walking toward "town." I pulled over and saw that it was two Asian girls that are dorm students at LI. I offered them a ride since it was freezing outside. They gladly accepted and I brought them to LI. I couldn't believe the clothes they were wearing. They had on light spring jackets (not zipped up) and sneakers. No hats, no gloves. I made sure to tell them to get proper gear before going out again. However, this snow may end within a few days. Looking at the forecast for this weekend, Saturday is only supposed to have a few flurries, and Sunday is supposed to be mostly sunny with a high of 40*F. But for now, it looks like tonight and tomorrow will be full of snow. So get out there and make yourself a snowman!

So, as you recall, yesterday I said the forecast said snow showers likely from 12:00 in the afternoon through the night. However, it hasn't snowed at all yet. Tonight, the forecast still says snow showers are likely, so we will find out if the prediction is correct by tomorrow morning. There is a 60% chance of snow, so it's looking pretty likely. As you can see from the image above, it will also be very cold and cloudy. Now wouldn't be a bad time to put an extra blanket on the bed. Looking at the forecast for tomorrow, Thursday, it still says snow showers. Today, the temperature was a few degrees warmer than Tuesday, and the same is supposed to be true for Thursday. Thursday looks like the high will be around 34*F, but it will feel like 28*F. Things seem to be looking up a little, but perhaps I'm being too optimistic. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

When I woke up this morning, I looked outside to see if it had snowed. All that was there was a light snow dusting on my car, so I figured it wouldn't be too bad outside. I couldn't have been more wrong. It was freezing out today. I couldn't find the "high" temperature, but the "low" temperature recorded was 12*F. Also, I had to scrape ice off my windows of my car. Telling me even more how cold it really was. I stayed inside most of the day, but when I did go outside, I noticed it was still very cold and no precipitation was going on, although it was cloudy. Tonight, the forcast doesn't call for any snow, as you can see from the image above. However, it will be VERY cold. The highest temperature predicted for tonight will be 16*F. (That is quite a change from our 60*F weather last week!) Tomorrow, Wednesday, snow showers are predicted from about 12pm through the night, with temperatures in the mid/upper 20's (although it will feel like about 20*F). In any event, it is time to bundle up and break out the long john's, because it only gets worse from here!

So I was just looking around at the Weather Channel's website to see what the weather was like in other parts of the United States when I saw a link that said "Hurricane Coverage" so I decided to click on it. From there I clicked on a link that lead me to Hurricane Rita from 2005. It reminded me of all the horrible things that hurricane did to Louisiana, and how many people that hurricane took. It really reminded me of how lucky we all are to be here. Weather is one thing that people have absolutely no control over. No matter how hard we try, it will always be more powerful than any human; and it can take us all over in a matter of hours. Moral of the story: don't mess around with natural disasters, you will lose.

I just decided to look up the weather for tomorrow (Tuesday) so I won't have the same problem as I did today -- wearing the wrong clothes. According to this picture, the temperature is going to be around 61*F or so. Weather.com says that the high is going to be 57*F and a few showers in the morning with partly cloudy sky's in the afternoon. Tomorrow I have field experience at Newport School, and I will be inside for most of the day. When I leave at around 3:00 pm, it should be in the mid-fifties and partly cloudy. I hope this forecast is correct so that way I won't be freezing in my short sleeve shirt and skirt or capris. Wish me luck!

I have been really busy lately, so that's why I haven't posted any blogs. I'm pretty confused about what we are supposed to write. For starters, I wish the weather would make up it's mind. One day it is warm and like summer, the next it is crisp and fresh like autumn. Personally, I would prefer it be autumn, since I have already packed away all of my summer clothes. Today, for instance, it is a beautiful summer-like day outside; a perfect day for shorts and a tank-top (in my opinon). However, I am wearing jeans, a tee-shirt and holding a sweat-shirt that I had on when I went outside this morning.-- This morning by the way it was raining, but the rain seemed to be heavier almost like snow.-- Why must the weather be flip-flopping like this? And what actually causes the weather to change so much so often? To these questions, I have no answers.
